Big Window

a quick glimpse of something beautiful

score by edward smallfield

          as in box:
soft afternoon reduced to (cold) type. Sox:
          white, red, black.
          A sore
arm. A torn (rotator) cuff. Ignore
the pain. A baseball poet: ‘cocks
          for clocks’
          hours, a stadium’s long
          shadows. Atardecer.

A fan shakes her paragraph of hair.
          King Kong
at the bat: we love these boys,
day stars drenched in our deluge of noise.
